vring! allows you to call you Facebook friends, from inside of Facebook for free! There are two components to vring!, the vring! Facebook application, and vring!hd™ which allow you to make and receiving calls directly from Facebook chat. You can install the vring! Facebook application by placing a call from http://apps.Facebook.com/vringme . vring!hd can be installed by selecting the install button at the same location or by clicking here. vring! is built and supported by Vivox, the leading provider of voice chat services for online games and virtual worlds. Supporting over 35 million users in more than 180 countries and delivering over 3 billion minutes of voice chat a month, the Vivox Network is the world's largest voice network for games and online communities. vring! is free for you to use. Call your Facebook friends as often as you like from within Facebook-there simply is no cost to you.
Currently, vring! is in Friends and Family Beta testing. Friends and family beta can leverage the product and provide feedback to us, to let us know how the application is holding up, "in the wild". We encourage you to complete the end of call surveys and use the feedback link on the left side of the application to provide feedback. Our focus in this release is on ensuring a high quality user experience, so let us know if there are any problems with placing calls, receiving calls or having a good in-call experience. If you would like to tell us how much you love the product or if you have suggestions for improvement, we'd like to hear those as well.
vring! lets you call all of your friend through Facebook. Calls are placed by leveraging Facebook's instant messaging capability-so anyone that you can instant message with, you can also talk to-without ever leaving Facebook. Currently you cannot call out to your friends' phones, although we are working on adding that capability in the near future.
Inside the vring! Facebook application, you can search for your friends and place calls. Once in a call, you can talk for any amount of time. You can also download vring!hd for tighter integration into Facebook chat and a superior quality voice experience. From the application, you can also invite other friends to use vring!
vring!hd integrates calling capabilities directly into your current Facebook chat window. From your chat window you will have the ability to place and receive calls without having to navigate to a separate application. While in a call, using vring!hd you can surf the majority of Facebook without losing the call. vring!hd allows you to talk to the people you chat with most.
The current release of vring! supports the following browser and OS combinations. Please note that vring! does not yet support mobile devices:
Internet Explorer 7, 8
Firefox 3.6 and above

Placing a call
There are two ways to place a call from vring!hd.
The first way is to select the phone icon from the chat list, next to the person you want to call:
The second way to make a call from vring!hd is, from within a chat. From there, you can click the place call button, and a call will start.
Troubleshooting can be done in two areas: Establishing a call and, once in call, call quality. Below are some tips for both.
Establishing a call relies on Facebook instant messaging. Most problems that occur on establishing a call can be eliminated by making sure the person you are trying to reach is available, per Facebook chat. Prior to establishing a call, it is best practice to have a short chat with the person you are trying to reach. Once you have established they are online, per Facebook, you should be able to establish the call. If you can not establish any calls, please restart your browser. If that still does not work, please contact Vivox customer support.
Most issues with call quality are caused by mismatched microphone or speaker volume levels, please be sure to adjust your speaker and microphone volumes if necessary. You can test the setup of your speaker and microphone ahead of the call by clicking here.
No microphone (need a microphone to talk)
Microphone or speaker muted
Bandwidth or CPU starvation
Headset vs onboard microphone(headset not necessary but generally better call quality)
If you have had a poor call experience, we want to know about it, so we can improve the quality of the call for you next time. Please report it below, depending if you were using the vring! application or the vring!hd component in facebook chat:
